Now the curtains have closed on Europe’s Monaco Yacht Show, the collective thoughts of the sailing world will turn towards the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which begins at the end of the month.
Held in Florida, the ‘Yachting Capital of the World’, the 54th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is regarded as one of the oldest and most important events on the yachting calendar attended by thousands each autumn.
Show exhibits at the five day show, which begins this year on Halloween, range from local yacht builders such as Hinckley Yachts to interior designers, luxury service providers and even supercar manufacturers.
Hosted on six separate sites which cover a surface of more than three million square feet, the event will showcase a huge variety of boats and yachts from fishing vessels to superyachts of more than 60 meters.
Hinckley Yachts, a company with which we at Becket & Co. work closely, will have a strong presence at the show this year exhibiting a number of vessels including the all new Talaria 48, and The Picnic Boat.
Even if you are not looking to buy a new boat, or looking for a company to oversee your yacht refit, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is a great day out for all the family, with highlights including The Blue Wild Dive Show and Hook the Future’s Kids Fishing Clinics.
There will also be a spectacular fireworks display on the opening night, as well as an exciting new venue – The Club at Seafair – open to visitors from October 31st through to November 4th. The Club is a unique 228-foot exhibition megayacht which will host a number of fine art, jewelry, and design stands for yachts in a club-like atmosphere, including a sumptuous luxury restaurant and cocktail lounge with panoramic views of the boat show.
The premier site for the show is the Bahia Mar Hotel and Yachting Center, with additional exhibits at the Hall of Fame Marina, Las Olas Municipal Marina, Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, Sails Marina and the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center.
