Our Yacht Managers Start Sailing Year With Providence Boat Show Trip

Yacht ShowAt Becket & Co., Newport’s premier yacht management services provider, we appreciate we are fortunate to be positioned at the heart of one of the most important yachting centers on the East Coast of the United States.

We are surrounded by some of the best sailing in the world, with thousands of kilometers of spectacular coastline, sheltered beaches and historical towns to explore by boat.
The area is also spoiled for choice vis-a-vis the number of yachting events which are held annually at various spots along the coast, such as the Providence Boat Show, which takes place next month.

Each year, the show attracts thousands of visitors from across New England including many of our yacht managers, all looking to see what’s new and exciting for the next sailing season.

This year, the Providence Boat Show will open under new management on January 31st, offering the chance to see dozens of new exhibitors on the stands including boats by Hunt Yachts, a company whose boats we at Becket & Co. are specialized in servicing.

Hunt Yachts is unique in the powerboat world as it was formed by naval architects, and it is an honor to specialize in Hunt yacht services which includes new builds, refits and seasonal management.

Hunt Yachts will be just one of many makes and models of powerboats, sailboats, kayaks and canoes on display at the three day show, which is taking place at The Rhode Island Convention Center, in Providence.

One of the highlights of the show, which last year was attended by more than 10,000 over the three days, is a series of sport fishing seminars, organized by experienced local fisherman Captain Jack Sprengel. Captain Sprengel, who owns and operates East Coast Charters LLC out of Warwick, Rhode Island, has been working in the sport fishing industry since he was 14 and is a wealth of knowledge about fishing in the region.

Also on offer at the Providence Boat Show is a general boating course by Captain John Martino of the Annapolis School of Seamanship.

Becket & Co. also runs its own on board yacht training so if you can’t make the show next year, we can always train you or your family to captain your boat safely before the sailing season begins.
